Amy Gordon, Marriage and Family Therapist (D.C.)

Amy (she/her) believes in the power of healthy relationships to transform individuals, families, and entire communities.

Amy brings a lively, engaged presence to her work as a therapist. Her goal is to create a safe environment where clients feel empowered to make meaningful changes that align with their most authentic selves.

Amy holds a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide, as well as an A.B. in Psychology with a minor in History of Art from Bryn Mawr College. She has completed Gottman Level 2 Training.

Amy’s therapeutic practice is trauma-informed and integrates theory and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory, Experiential Theory, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. She believes in the importance of the mind-body-soul-environment connection in human wellbeing and collaborates with clients to incorporate their personal strategies, strengths, and interests into fostering integrated wellness.

Amy specializes in treating adults with difficult childhoods and parents, individuals struggling to find or maintain healthy romantic relationships and friendships, and those seeking to reduce stress, anxiety, depression,  She supports clients dealing with perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, and those looking to build greater self-worth and confidence. Amy enthusiastically guides clients navigating career concerns and changes. For couples, she focuses on improving communication, decreasing conflict, and increasing connection. She enjoys working with healthcare professionals, premarital couples, perinatal couples, young adults, and Jewish clients.

Originally from the greater Philadelphia area, Amy has had the opportunity to live on both U.S. coasts and even internationally in Japan. Outside of work, she is passionate about learning and enjoys reading nonfiction, nerding out on documentaries, trying new restaurants, visiting museums, and enhancing her interior design skills. Amy and her active-duty military husband, rambunctious toddler, and elderly cat currently reside in coastal North Carolina.
