Jasmin Alostaz, LGPC (MD), MFT (DC)
Jasmin (she/her) is a Marriage and Family Therapist. She believes that therapy is a wonderful avenue to get to know yourself better and to formulate meaningful and deep relationships with others. Jasmin is here to work with you collaboratively to help you develop skills that will increase your wellbeing for years to come.
Jasmin speaks Arabic fluently and has experience in non-profit community-based settings, school-settings in D.C and CA where she worked with elementary and middle school children and families. She also led therapeutic groups for children in intensive outpatient settings.
Jasmin believes that including other family members in the therapeutic process is integral in a child’s progress. Jasmin emphasizes humor and light hearted jokes as a way to connect with her clients.
Jasmin uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), humanistic therapy, solution-focused approaches and play therapy to help individuals with various different issues: depression, anxiety, trauma, navigating life transitions, relationship difficulties, and cultural differences. Jasmin makes it a priority to emphasize culturally sensitive therapy. Additionally, Jasmin is fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) from the EMDR Institute, Inc. Jasmin is also trained in Theraplay Level 1 from the Theraplay Institute which emphasizes attachment styles that helps families form deeper connections with one another.
Jasmin was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She has relocated to Washington D.C. with her husband. She received her Bachelor’s of Art from California State University, Northridge and her Masters in Science in Clinical Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. In her spare time, Jasmin enjoys going for a run, camping in national parks with her husband and spending quality time with family.
